I think we have enough interest in Door Slammer division to go ahead with it.
Here is what I'm thinking 1/25 kits 2.0 gram wheels, May race any GM car build prior to 1973, July race any Ford/Mercury car build prior to 1973, and the September race will be any Mopar car build prior to 1973, then for the finals we will race them all against each other.
What do you think?
Is this Class still a go? If so; what other rules are there this leaves it fairly open

That '56 is fantastic, beautiful paint job and great air brushing on the top and hood. I like the idea of a street rod class, but wonder if we could see some build photos from anyone. I understand these are not that easy to build or tune. Lee

I'm not an expert, but I'll share the way I did it. There is also a thread at NPWDRL where QuickTime shared some pictures of his, which is what helped me, and I think it's worth looking up. I don't think anyone here minds if I give credit where credit is due.
This is the first time I had tried this kind of car. To me, it almost seems like three different projects. There is building part of a model car, building a pinewood derby car, and then a third project of fitting two things together that weren't made to go together.
There are wood screws sticking out of the chassis. The doors of the model car body have pieces that fit over those screws, which I chose to make out of overlapped pieces of a paint mixing stick. There are a couple of holes in each that line up with the screws. It is set up so that the car body snaps over the screws securely without adjusting anything. I send mine in two pieces, with the chassis in its own shipping box.

Insane! I like the idea of this class. If I just had more time. This is truly old-school model building meets PWR. I would limit all racing to at least gravity based. That is the big challenge. i would not want to venture into "propelled" cars. Seems like that is crossing a line.

just read the rules on door slammer. Seems a bit limited. What if you wanted to build a Ferrari? 80s Magnum PI style? Don't get me wrong. I like the muscle era. Maybe there would be room for a "vintage" class, and a "do what ever you want" class including your own modifications. May seem strange to some, but as builders who has wanted to "customize" any car, including a model?
There's a choice of any American car or truck made before 1973, not just muscle cars. I think that's wide open enough for everyone to pick out something they really like.
I see the rules for wheels in the door slammer class is just 2.0 grams. Has anyone played with trueing the tread and see how narrow you can go and keep it 2.0? Ones I've cut to 1.16 and 1.17" at 7.5-7.6mm weigh more then 2.0 grams.

I have made several of these from BSA/USA, and from Pine Car wheels. You need to machine out some of the inside. The tread wall on BSA's run about .042" thick, with an OD of .172". The hub diameter is .205". I also faced off the lettering on the inside of the BSA's to get to 2.1 grams.
OK. So I'm good on wheels now. I'm not sure its fast. Never built one, but now I'm trying to figure out how to pack this thing...holy smokes. How the heck do you pack this thing. LoL...
This is my 7 year olds car, he got this car in his gift bag from the Mid America Pinewood derby race. So we are putting it to good work. He wants his racing name K-Racing Jr2 and he named it White Lightning.

Whoops! - the OD is 1.172".
